Albany International Airport is nearing completion of a multi-year expansion and renovation project and anticipates the introduction of temporary visual art exhibitions and installations into numerous locations throughout its terminal. Designated spaces include a new, 1400 sf public-facing gallery, as well as post-security wall-based locations.
The Airport’s Art & Culture Program invites artists and artist teams working within about a 100-mile radius of Albany, NY to submit portfolios and credentials for consideration as we plan upcoming presentations. The Airport encourages applicants from across the creative spectrum and welcomes those from traditionally underrepresented groups.
We are seeking visual artwork that represents a wide range of mediums, artistic practices and perspectives. We recognize that artificial intelligence systems can play a role in aiding artists’ creative practice, however the nature and extent of such contributions must be disclosed within the artist’s statement and notes on the composition of the work. In accordance with common public art standards, the airport does not present artwork that includes nudity, overt political references, provocative language, violence and natural or human-made disaster imagery.
Separate calls will be announced in the future for large-scale sculpture and installation projects that respond to specific locations and architectural parameters.
Submissions will be accepted through June 1, 2026 and reviewed by an exhibition committee for opportunities through 2027.
