Coming Attractions
Cardboard packaging, glue and hardware
2015

With a vibrant burst of color and pattern, Coming Attractions commands a closer look, revealing a complex collage of manufactured cardboard items – like those frozen food boxes or take-out containers we might typically toss into the recycling bin without a thought to their visual merit. By their very nature these brightly hued boxes and containers are designed to catch our attention, and are produced in the vast quantities that consumer culture demands. That profusion of goods and graphics is reflected in this installation, where familiar motifs are repeated, inverted, cut apart and ultimately transformed into the riotously rhythmic composition presented here.

Lisa Hoke is a nationally celebrated artist whose work is included in public collections throughout the US. She is represented by Pavel Zoubok Gallery, New York.
